Dalmia Bharat Group Foundation (DBGF), created to facilitate Dalmia Bharat Group’s corporate social responsibility activities, organized a one day writing workshop yesterday for 15 women Self Help Groups (SHG) at Yadwad village in Belgaum district, Karnataka. The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Shoba Y., who has experience, both as a trainer as well as a SHG member for over five years in writing books of accounts. With an objective to empower the women SHG’s, this initiative will enable them to acquire skills on maintenance of accounts and minute book keeping. The workshop educated them on basics of receipts and payments, income and expenditure and updating attendance register, members’ savings ledger and individual savings pass book. As a result, it will help them to maintain accurate accounts of thrift and credit accounts for efficient and transparent functioning of the groups. DBGF has formed these 15 women SHG’s which consists of nearly 250 women from the villages of Yadwad, Kopadatti, Kamankatti, Girisagar and Harijankerre. The writing workshop is part of the first initiative undertaken with the SHG’s to assist them to manage their own resources as well as ensures transparency and smoothing functioning.
