  • Airline to use GE Digital’s Asset Transfer System (ATS) software to modernize the way it manages technical records for its aircraft fleet
  • ATS is designed to be a highly collaborative tool that supports the entire leased asset lifecycle to drive efficiency and maintain compliance
  • Norwegian is Norway’s largest airline and the fourth largest low-cost carrier in Europe

SAN RAMON, Calif. – December 12, 2022 – GE Digital, a leader in aviation software, today announced that Norwegian, Norway’s largest airline and the fourth largest low-cost carrier in Europe, has chosen its Asset Transfer System (ATS) software to modernize the way it manages technical records for its aircraft fleet. As part of this new strategic relationship, Norwegian will also receive services from one of GE Digital’s partner service providers. Through this managed service, GE Digital will become an extension of the airline’s Records Management and Lease Transfer team, supporting with day-to-day records management and the physical storing of all the paper documents.

ATS is a highly collaborative tool designed to streamline and simplify airlines’ day-to-day records management activities, including the way asset documentation is managed between airlines, lessors, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) teams. This process is complicated, time-consuming, and inefficient without the help of software because throughout the life of an asset, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), MROs, and airlines generate large amounts of documentation that must be shared with each other for daily operation, recurring audits, and asset transitions.

“Daily airline records management is time-consuming, especially when done manually. Transitioning assets can be stressful and inefficient when documents are dispersed and stakeholders are using various means of sharing and communicating with one another” said Henrik Fjeld, Senior Vice President and NP CA, Technical Operations, for Norwegian. “ATS will help ready us for transitions ahead of time, while supporting us with our daily activities, enabling us to continue to focus on the most important thing, which is the success of our daily operations.”

ATS first launched in 2019. Today, more than two dozen of the world’s largest airlines and lessors are using the software.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Norwegian to the GE Digital family of customers,” said Andrew Coleman, General Manager of the company’s Aviation Software business. “The future of flight is rooted in software—this is just one example of that—so to see an airline of Norwegian’s stature embracing digital is truly exciting.”
