Raahgiri at Puri

Bhubaneswar, 20/03/2016: “Once the road belonged to the pedestrians, marked by safety and connectivity with community around. Today, the road has been usurped by the modern day mad rush, coupled with vehicular pollution. So, Raahgiri celebration has a strong social message, wherein the pedestrians reclaim the road for a couple of hours and use it to express their freedom, with free flow of imagination”, says Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, Nalco. He expressed his happiness that as a responsible corporate citizen, the Navratna Nalco was privileged to present Raahgiri today at Puri, in association with District Administration, Puri Municipality, Rotary Club and Puri Police. It was a huge draw with participation of people from all walks of life. Earlier, Nalco had donated 200 sports cycles to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for such on-going celebrations at the state capital.
Dr. Chand was accompanied by Nalco’s ace athlete and Olympian Anuradha Biswal, international cricketers Shiv Sundar Das and Debasis Mohanty. These youth icons cheered the sea of humanity, who had come out on the road for the bonhomie. On the occasion, Shri Arivind Agarwal, IAS, Collector of Puri, felicitated Dr. Chand and appreciated Nalco’s unique CSR initiatives and support to make Raahgiri celebrations a huge success.
